Arts Computer Experience (ACE)

ACE 2009 is a summer day camp where children will experience hours of fun while learning exciting and interesting aspects of art, computers, drama and music combined with outdoor activities and swimming.

  • Children ages 7-12 years by December 2009
  • The camp runs four two-week sessions throughout July and August, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily
  • The program begins June 29 and ends August 21
  • Cost is $325 to $350 depending on session

Centre for Education in Mathematics & Computing (CEMC)

The Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing administers mathematics and computing contests for students in grades 7 to 12. Over 200,000 students participate annually. The CEMC also offers free web resources for students and teachers, publishes books, visits schools to talk to students about problem solving and careers in mathematics and computer science, and holds workshops and seminars on campus for students and teachers.

Engineering Science Quest (ESQ)

Now in its 19th year, this student-run program explores new horizons in engineering and science, giving children an opportunity to see, touch, invent, design, create, and experiment in our summer camps. ESQ has two streams of camp programming this summer: engineering and science camp, and ExXtreme technology camp. Camps offer low instructor/camper ratios (1:6 in most camps) and are run in partnership with the faculties of engineering and science.

  • Children entering grades 1-9 in fall 2009
  • Camps run weekly from June 29 to August 28, and operate on holidays
  • Multiple weeks of programming available for all grade levels
  • Cost $212 per five-day week except for the ExXtreme! program
  • Cost for the ExXtreme! program is $250 per five-day week
  • Camp hours are 9 :00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Extended one hour drop-off and pick-up periods (no additional cost)

Hildegard Marsden Day Nursery Summer Camp

This program of fun-filled indoor and outdoor activities emphasizes the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth of young children. Activities include science projects, swimming, large and fine motor activities, songs, co-operative games, field trips, and more. The child-staff ratio is eight campers for each teacher with a maximum of 16 weekly campers. Each week offers different trips and activities.

  • Children ages 4 to 6 years
  • Minimum weekly sessions are offered for July and August
  • Cost is $200 per five-day week; $160 per four-day week

Klemmer Farmhouse Co-operative Nursery Summer Program

This fun-filled weekly program involves crafts, water play, music, and games combined with field trips and outdoor play programs. Children may register for one or more weeks. Hot lunch and snacks are provided. The child-staff ratio is eight children for each ECE teacher.

  • Children ages 2 1/2 to 5 years
  • Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Cost is $150 per five-day week and $140 per four-day week

Ontario Mennonite Music Camp (OMMC)

Are you looking for an exciting camping experience? Then join us for 12 fun-filled days of Music Camp. Boys and girls with a love for music and all levels of musical ability are welcome. Create lifetime friendships as you participate in choir, instrumental music, individual coaching, drama, swimming, outdoor activities, campfires, field trips, camper-planned chapels, visits by professional artists, and a concert for family and friends. Now in its 24th year, OMMC receives campers from many Christian denominations. Campers and university-trained counsellors are housed in the UW dormitory rooms of Conrad Grebel University College.

Quantum Cryptography School for Young Students (QCSYS)

The Quantum Cryptography School for Young Students (QCSYS) is an exciting week-long summer program offered to Canadian students in Grade 11. Students are given a first-hand look into one of the most exciting topics in modern science — quantum cryptography — and have the opportunity to meet some of the most renowned researchers the field has to offer. In addition, students will get a tour of quantum computing and quantum cryptography experiments.

Shad Valley

Shad Valley is an innovative Canadian summer program promoting excellence in science, technology and entrepreneurship. Participants are top students in grades 11 and 12 with demonstrated intellect, creativity, interpersonal skills, initiative and drive. Students participate in a four-week intensive residential experience involving stimulating lectures, hands-on labs and seminars, project work in technology and entrepreneurship, motivational guest speakers and excursions.

University of Waterloo Boys' Volleyball Camp

Join us for a day of position-specific training followed by three days of skill training that will touch on every aspect of the game. Work with Warrior coaches and athletes to bring your volleyball skills and knowledge to a higher level and prepare you for the start of your high school and club season.

University of Waterloo Girls’ Hockey School 2009

Both camps will feature Geraldine Heaney, seven-time world champion, 1998 Olympic silver medalist, 2002 Olympic gold medalist, 2008 IIHF Hockey Hall of Fame.

1. The Future Warriors Hockey Camp provides fully supervised sessions with three hours on-ice instruction daily. The program emphasizes power skating (forward and backward), puck control, innovative on-ice and off-ice sessions, team concepts, sportswomanship, leadership — and fun. On-ice sessions are held at Columbia Icefield arena. Off-ice recreational activities are held in surrounding university facilities.

  • Girls ages 6–15
  • Ratio of six participants per coach
  • August 10–14, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Fee: $275, includes hockey school jersey

2. The Elite Warriors Conditioning Camp is looking for the individual who is a good player, but more importantly, is motivated and committed to learning and improving skills, knowledge, and conditioning. We emphasize high-tempo drills, puck control, highly competitive flow drills, and one-on-one drills. Organized scrimmage is held on the last day. On-ice sessions held at Columbia Icefield arena.

  • Girls ages 15 – 19 playing “A” & “AA”
  • August 11 – 15, 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
  • Fee: $175, includes hockey school jersey

University of Waterloo Warrior Spring and Summer Hockey Camps

This unique University of Waterloo Warrior Hockey Camp will provide each participant the opportunity to develop individual hockey skills in a challenging, fun environment. Each participant will receive more than 12 hours of quality on-ice instruction over five days.

Instructors will help develop your skills based upon your individual level. “Shooting to Score” is committed to a high teacher/student ratio in order to create as many one-on-one coaching situations as possible. There is a minimum of one instructor for every five campers.

Specialty Camps are for players ages 11-14. Forward, defence, goaltender, and power skating camps are available.

University of Waterloo Women’s Field Hockey Camp

The Women’s Field Hockey Camp features international-level coaches, assisted by UW Warriors Varsity team members. Players are divided by experience for a more personalized program, which includes daily instruction, drills, and games. Brochure and registration information here.

Waterloo Warriors Girls’ Volleyball Camps 2009

Join us for three different weeks of camps to suit every young volleyball enthusiast. Whether you are an experienced player looking to hone and refine your skills, an avid player wanting to improve your skills, or a beginner just wanting to learn the game and acquire the proper skills, we have the camp for you! Registration deadline for all camps is June 5, 2009. All camp registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

1. Maximum Performance Positional Camp: July 6-10

This camp is designed for the experienced athlete only. You will learn position-specific aspects of the game and have the opportunity to work together with the other athletes in the camp to apply your skills in a combined team dynamic.

  • Ages 15 to 18, Advanced
  • Cost: $265 + GST
  • Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday

2. All-Skills Developmental Camp: July 13-17

This camp is designed for the athlete who has been exposed to volleyball but wants to master the fundamental skills and develop a more in-depth understanding of the game. Training groups for the week will be determined according to skill level.

  • Ages 13 to 18, Intermediate to Advanced
  • Cost: $250 + GST
  • Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday

3. Beginner FUNdamentals Camp, July 20-24

This is a camp for the young athlete who is acquiring an interest in volleyball and wants to learn the fundamentals of the game while being exposed to a variety of different activities. This camp includes a daily swim in the UW pool.

  • Ages 9-12, Coed
  • Cost: $230 + GST
  • Hours: 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
